Is there a future for the centre ground of Welsh/UK politics?
Politics Master Class on Liberalism Chaired by Hefin David AM

Dr Peter Sloman, Churchill College Cambridge and Eluned Parrott (Director Parrott Communications Ltd) former Welsh Liberal Democrat AM for South Wales Central

On Tuesday 17th January 2017 Dr Peter Sloman
Churchill College Cambridge and Eluned Parrott both talked on the topic of ‘Is there a future for the centre ground of Welsh/UK politics?’

The
Politics Master Class on Liberalism was sponsored by Cardiff Sixth Form College and the Political Studies Association

The talk examined the fact that the 2015 general election, 2016 Welsh Assembly election and referendum on Brexit have seen voters switch from those political parties and opinions advocated by the centre ground of politics and move towards to those ideas put forward by those on right. With the centre ground of politics across much of the Western World also reflecting a decline in the fortunes of Liberalism it seems now time to reflect on what future there is for it. Dr Sloman examined the more historic route if Liberalism and Eluned Parrott reflected on the more contemporary world of Liberalism in Wales.
